ASS-ratiopharm® 100 mg TAH is a German medicinal product containing 100 mg acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) per tablet. It is used as an antiplatelet medicine to reduce the tendency of blood platelets to stick together and form blood clots.
Unlike aspirin products used for pain or fever, this 100 mg low-dose formulation is intended primarily for cardiovascular antiplatelet therapy, including secondary prevention following certain cardiovascular or cerebrovascular events.
ASS-ratiopharm 100 mg TAH should be taken regularly and only as directed by a healthcare professional.

Active Ingredient
Each Tablet Contains:
Acetylsalicylic Acid (Aspirin / ASA) – 100 mg
Acetylsalicylic acid at low doses irreversibly inhibits platelet aggregation, reducing the ability of platelets to clump together.
This antiplatelet effect lasts for the lifespan of the affected platelet, which is why low-dose aspirin is commonly prescribed as ongoing cardiovascular therapy in appropriately selected patients.
Indications
Depending on the individual clinical situation, ASS-ratiopharm 100 mg TAH is used for indications including:
Unstable angina pectoris as part of standard therapy
Acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) as part of standard treatment
Prevention of another myocardial infarction following a previous heart attack
Following certain arterial vascular procedures or surgical interventions
Prevention of transient ischemic attacks (TIA) and cerebral infarction after precursor stages have occurred
This is a secondary-prevention medicine and should not be started simply because someone believes aspirin is “good for the heart.”
Not a Regular Pain-Relief Aspirin
Although acetylsalicylic acid is also used in higher doses as a pain reliever and fever reducer, ASS-ratiopharm 100 mg TAH is not intended for the treatment of pain or fever.
The 100 mg dose is formulated for its antiplatelet effect.
Directions for Use
The exact dose and duration depend on the medical indication.
For many long-term cardiovascular indications, 1 tablet (100 mg) once daily is used. Different dosing may be required in acute situations.
Swallow with sufficient water and follow the prescribing physician's instructions.
Do not start, stop, or change long-term aspirin therapy without consulting a healthcare professional.
Low-dose aspirin can increase the risk of bleeding, including gastrointestinal bleeding.
Do not use without appropriate medical guidance if you:
Have an active stomach or intestinal ulcer
Have a bleeding disorder or increased bleeding tendency
Have previously experienced an allergic or asthmatic reaction to aspirin or another NSAID
Have severe kidney or liver impairment

Gastrointestinal bleeding
Allergic reactions
Seek urgent medical attention for vomiting blood, black/tarry stools, unusual or severe bleeding, difficulty breathing, facial or throat swelling, or symptoms suggestive of a stroke or serious allergic reaction.
Children & Adolescents
Aspirin-containing products generally should not be given to children or adolescents with viral illnesses without medical direction because of the association between acetylsalicylic acid and Reye's syndrome, a rare but serious condition.
