Nortase® Capsules is a vegetarian digestive enzyme medicine used to replace digestive enzymes in people with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI). Unlike many pancreatic enzyme products derived from pork, Nortase® contains fungal-derived enzymes that help digest fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. It is indicated for digestive disorders caused by insufficient pancreatic enzyme production, helping relieve symptoms such as bloating, abdominal discomfort, gas, greasy stools, and diarrhea related to maldigestion.

Active Ingredients

Each capsule contains:

• Rizolipase (Lipase from Rhizopus oryzae) – 7,000 FIP units
• Protease from Aspergillus oryzae – at least 54 FIP units
• Amylase from Aspergillus oryzae – at least 700 FIP units

Directions

Adults:

• Typical dose: 1–3 capsules with each main meal, depending on the severity of pancreatic insufficiency.
• Swallow capsules whole with plenty of water during meals or snacks.
• If swallowing is difficult, the capsule may be opened and the contents mixed with water and swallowed immediately without chewing.
• Dosage should be individualized by a healthcare professional.

Warnings

• Do not use during acute pancreatitis or an acute flare of chronic pancreatitis.
• Do not use if allergic to fungal enzymes or any ingredient in the product.
• Swallow capsules whole; chewing may irritate the mouth.
• Contains lactose.
• Digestive enzyme products may reduce folic acid absorption and may interact with acarbose or miglitol.
