    Description

Furadonin is an antibacterial medicine used mainly for treating urinary tract infections (UTIs).

Here are the key details about Furadonin 50 mg (10 tablets):

     Form:

    • Tablets, 50 mg each

    • Usually packaged in blisters of 10, 20, or more

     Indications (what it’s used for):

    • Treatment and prevention of acute and chronic UTIs (such as cystitis, pyelitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis), if caused by nitrofurantoin-sensitive bacteria.

    • Not effective for prostatitis or kidney infections that have spread beyond the bladder.

    Contraindications (do NOT use if):

    • Severe kidney failure

    • Hepatic (liver) disorders

    • Heart failure (III–IV stage)

    • Pregnancy (especially after 38 weeks) and breastfeeding

    • Children under 1 month

    • Allergy to nitrofurantoin or other nitrofurans

     Typical dosage (for adults):

    • 50–100 mg, 4 times a day (every 6 hours), usually for 5–7 days

    • Tablets should be taken with food to improve absorption and reduce stomach upset.

     Important notes:

    • Drink plenty of water while on Furadonin.

    • It may cause urine discoloration (brownish color) – this is normal.

    • Common side effects: nausea, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, allergic reactions.

    • Rare but serious: lung or liver toxicity (more likely with long-term use).

Since you have only 10 tablets (50 mg each = total 500 mg), this is usually just over 2 days’ supply at the standard dosing (200–400 mg/day). That’s often not enough for a full treatment course, so it’s important to clarify with a doctor or pharmacist before starting.
