Almagel® A is an oral antacid suspension formulated to provide fast symptomatic relief from heartburn, acid indigestion, stomach pain, and upper gastrointestinal discomfort associated with excess gastric acid. It works by neutralizing stomach acid, reducing pepsin activity, and providing a protective coating over the stomach lining. Almagel A also contains a local analgesic agent to help relieve pain/discomfort.

Active Ingredients (per 5 ml):

• Aluminium hydroxide (as algeldrate) — 300 mg (equivalent to approx. 200 mg aluminium oxide)
• Magnesium hydroxide — 100 mg
• Benzocaine — ~100 mg (local anesthetic for pain relief)

These components work together to neutralize acid, reduce irritation, and provide a mild local numbing effect on the gastric mucosa.

Indications:

Used for temporary symptomatic relief of:
• Heartburn and acid reflux
• Acid indigestion and sour stomach
• Upper abdominal pain associated with excess gastric acidity
• Gastric discomfort after spicy or rich meals

How to Use:

Adults and adolescents (≥ 12 years):
• 5–15 ml (1–3 measuring spoonfuls) orally, 3–4 times daily
• Take 10–15 minutes before meals and at bedtime for best effect
• Shake well before use
• Avoid drinking large amounts of liquid for 15 minutes after taking to maintain effect of the suspension

Maximum Duration:
• Do not use continuously for more than 2 weeks without consulting a healthcare professional.
