Prilosec OTC is an over-the-counter acid reducer containing omeprazole 20 mg per delayed-release tablet. It is indicated for frequent heartburn occurring 2 or more days per week in adults 18 years and older. It works by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach and provides up to 24-hour heartburn control with once-daily use.
The 28-tablet package provides two separate 14-day courses of treatment. Prilosec OTC is not intended for immediate relief; it may take 1–4 days for full effect.

Directions for Use
Adults 18 years and older: Take 1 tablet once daily for 14 days.
Take with a glass of water before eating in the morning.
Swallow whole; do not chew or crush.
Do not take more than 1 tablet in 24 hours.
Do not use for longer than 14 days unless directed by a doctor.
If needed, another 14-day course may be repeated every 4 months, unless otherwise directed by a doctor.
Children under 18 years should consult a doctor before use.
Consult a doctor if heartburn continues or worsens, if treatment is needed for more than 14 days, or if another course is needed sooner than every 4 months. People taking prescription medications should check with a doctor or pharmacist because omeprazole can interact with certain medicines.
