What is Ketonal Forte / Ketoprofen?

• Ketonal Forte is a formulation of ketoprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). 

• Ketoprofen works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing synthesis of prostaglandins, which mediate inflammation, pain, and fever.

• It has analgesic (pain relief), anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic (fever-reducing) effects. 

Indications / Uses

Ketonal Forte 100 mg is used for:

• Pain syndromes: acute and chronic pain (muscle pain, back pain, joint pain, postoperative pain)

• Inflammatory / rheumatic conditions: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, bursitis, tendinitis, capsulitis, extra-articular rheumatism, etc. 

• Menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) 

• Post-traumatic / postoperative pain 

Dosage & Administration

Here are typical dosing details (may vary by country / patient condition):

• Each coated tablet contains 100 mg ketoprofen. 

• The maximum daily dose is generally 200 mg (i.e. 1 tablet twice daily, or equivalent). 

• Tablets should be taken with food or after a meal, with sufficient fluid (e.g. ≥ 100 mL water or milk) to minimize gastrointestinal irritation. 

• The tablets are coated, to help protect the stomach. 

• If combining with other formulations (e.g. suppositories, injections), the total dose across all forms should not exceed 200 mg/day. 

• Duration of therapy should be as short as possible to achieve the effect, especially in pain / flare use.
