Description
Sodium picosulfate is the active substance contained in the medicinal product Lax. It has a laxative effect as a result of a direct action on the mucous membrane of the colon. It stimulates its movements (peristalsis), causes the accumulation of fluids and salts in its cavity. In this way, it softens the stool and facilitates bowel emptying.
Lax is used for short-term treatment of constipation in adults and children, as well as when it is necessary to facilitate bowel movements, e.g. before certain intestinal examinations.
