Description
Phlogenzym® Mono is a German herbal medicinal product containing bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme derived from pineapple stems. It is used in adults and adolescents ages 12 and older for acute swelling following injuries or surgical procedures, particularly swelling involving the nose and sinuses.
Each enteric-coated tablet contains 120–136 mg of bromelain, standardized to 800 F.I.P. units. The enteric coating helps protect the enzyme as the tablet passes through the stomach.

Why F.I.P. Units Matter
For enzyme products such as bromelain, the weight in milligrams does not by itself describe enzymatic activity. F.I.P. units indicate enzyme activity, which is why the product is officially labeled as providing 800 F.I.P. units per tablet.
Indications
According to the current German product information, Phlogenzym Mono is indicated for:
- Acute swelling following surgery
- Acute swelling following injuries

Directions for Use
Unless otherwise directed by a healthcare professional:
Adults and adolescents ages 12+:
Take 1 enteric-coated tablet 1–2 times daily.
Swallow the tablet whole with plenty of liquid. Do not chew or crush it.
Take at least:
- 30 minutes before a meal, or
- 90 minutes after a meal
Without medical or dental advice, the product should generally not be used for longer than 8–10 days.
Other Ingredients
Lactose monohydrate, pregelatinized corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, vegetable magnesium stearate, purified water, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, talc, maltodextrin, methacrylic acid-methyl methacrylate copolymer (1:1), sodium lauryl sulfate, macrogol 6000, triethyl citrate, and vanillin.

Important Safety Information
Do not use Phlogenzym Mono if you:
- Are allergic to bromelain or pineapple
- Have a blood-clotting disorder
- Have a condition associated with significantly impaired blood coagulation
- Are taking anticoagulants or antiplatelet medications without appropriate medical guidance
