Pyrantel is an anthelmintic (anti-worm) medication used for the treatment of intestinal parasitic infections, primarily pinworms (Enterobius vermicularis). It works locally in the intestinal tract by paralyzing worms, which prevents them from attaching to the intestinal wall and allows their natural elimination from the body.

Pyrantel is commonly used in both adults and children, with dosing adjusted according to age and body weight.

How It Works
Pyrantel blocks neuromuscular transmission in worms, causing paralysis. The immobilized parasites are then expelled naturally through bowel movements without the need for laxatives.

Dosage and Use

• Take exactly as directed by a healthcare professional or according to the package instructions

• A single dose is often sufficient, but a repeat dose after 2 weeks may be recommended to prevent reinfection

• Strict hygiene measures (handwashing, cleaning bedding and household surfaces) are advised to reduce reinfection risk
