What Renacet Is

Renacet contains calcium acetate (475 mg per tablet).

It is a phosphate binder used mainly in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on dialysis, to control high blood phosphate (hyperphosphatemia).
-
By binding phosphate from food in the gut, it helps prevent complications like bone disease, vascular calcification, and itching.
π’ How to Take It
-
Always take with meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) β so it can bind phosphate from food.
-
Tablets should be swallowed whole with water (not crushed/chewed unless your doctor advises).
-
The usual starting dose is 1β2 tablets per main meal, but:
-
The dose is individualized depending on your blood phosphate level.
-
Your doctor may increase or decrease the number of tablets.
-
β οΈ Important Notes
-
Do not exceed the prescribed dose. Too much calcium may lead to high blood calcium (hypercalcemia) β can cause nausea, constipation, confusion, or irregular heartbeat.
-
Regular blood tests are required to monitor calcium and phosphate levels.
