Tetracycline 1% Eye Ointment is an antibacterial ophthalmic preparation used for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eyes and eyelids. It contains tetracycline, a broad-spectrum antibiotic that helps inhibit bacterial growth, reducing inflammation, redness, discharge, and discomfort.

The ointment form provides prolonged contact with the eye surface, supporting effective local action.

Indications

Used for bacterial eye and eyelid infections, including:

• Blepharitis and blepharoconjunctivitis

• Conjunctivitis

• Keratitis and keratoconjunctivitis

• Hordeolum (stye, meibomitis)

• Trachoma

How to Apply

Apply a thin strip of ointment (approximately 0.5–1 cm) into the lower conjunctival sac.

Typical dosing guidelines:

• Blepharitis / blepharoconjunctivitis: 3–4 times daily for 5–7 days

• Keratitis / keratoconjunctivitis: 2–3 times daily for 5–7 days (consult a doctor if no improvement after 3–5 days)

• Stye (meibomitis): once daily at night until healed

• Trachoma: every 2–4 hours initially, then 2–3 times daily for 1–2 months
