Description

Active Ingredient: Thiamine hydrochloride (Vitamin B1)

Pharmacological Action

Thiamine (Vitamin B1) is a water-soluble vitamin essential for:

• Carbohydrate metabolism
• Cellular energy production
• Proper nerve impulse transmission
• Cardiovascular function

Deficiency may lead to neuropathy, muscle weakness, cardiac dysfunction, and metabolic disturbances.


Indications

Prescribed by a physician as part of complex therapy for:

• Vitamin B1 deficiency (including malabsorption syndromes)
• Neurological disorders: neuritis, radiculitis, neuralgia, peripheral paresis or paralysis
• Cardiovascular disorders: myocardial dystrophy, coronary circulation impairment
• Chronic alcoholism
• Intoxication states
• Certain dermatoses (e.g., psoriasis, eczema)
• Intestinal atony


Administration

• Usually administered deep intramuscularly (IM)
• Less commonly by slow intravenous (IV) injection
• Dosage and duration are determined individually by a physician


Important Precautions

Drug incompatibility: Do not mix in the same syringe with:

• Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine)
• Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin)
• Nicotinic acid
• Penicillin
• Streptomycin

Possible Side Effects:

• Allergic reactions (itching, urticaria, angioedema)
• Tachycardia
• Increased sweating
• Pain at injection site

Storage: Protect from light; store at 15–25°C (59–77°F)
