Indication

Nexium 24HR is indicated for the temporary treatment of:

Frequent heartburn occurring 2 or more days per week.

By reducing stomach acid production, the medicine provides prolonged control of frequent heartburn when taken as directed.

Important

Nexium 24HR is not designed for immediate relief of heartburn. Full benefit may require 1–4 days of continuous treatment.

How It Works

Esomeprazole belongs to a class of medicines called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). It works by blocking proton pumps within acid-producing cells of the stomach, thereby reducing the amount of acid released into the stomach.

Unlike short-acting antacids that neutralize acid already present, Nexium 24HR reduces acid production at its source.

Directions

Adults 18 Years and Older

Take 1 capsule once daily for 14 consecutive days.

• Take before eating in the morning.
• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.
• Do not crush or chew.
• Do not take more than 1 capsule in 24 hours.
• Do not use for more than 14 days unless directed by a healthcare professional.

The medicine may take 1–4 days for full effect.

A 14-day course may be repeated every 4 months, if needed, unless otherwise directed by a healthcare professional.
