Name: Ferro Sanol Duodenal (hard capsules with enteric / duodenal coating)

Microcrystalline cellulose, ascorbic acid, talc, triethyl (2-acetoxypropan-1,2,3-tricarboxylate), hypromellose, polysorbate 80, sodium lauryl sulfate, gelatin, titanium dioxide, iron oxides etc.

Mechanism / Release:
The capsule contains ~300–400 small pellets that are gastro-resistant (i.e. not dissolved in the stomach). They pass intact to the duodenum, where iron is released and absorbed more effectively.
🩺 Indications / Uses
Ferro Sanol Duodenal is indicated for:

Iron deficiency (without anemia)

Iron deficiency anemia

Support of iron needs in pregnancy, breastfeeding and in periods or conditions with increased iron loss (e.g. chronic bleeding)
💊 Dosage / Administration

Standard dosage (adults / children ≥ 6 years & ≥ 20 kg): 1 capsule of the 100 mg strength once daily (morning)

If more severe iron deficiency: 2–3 capsules per day may be used initially (as per physician’s direction)

Time of administration: On an empty stomach (≈ 1 hour before meal) or at sufficient interval (≈ 2 hours) before/after food to maximize absorption

Option for those who cannot swallow capsules: The capsule shell may be opened carefully, and the pellets taken (e.g. over a spoon), followed by water.

Treatment duration: Therapy continues until iron stores are replenished (commonly 3 to 6 months), and beyond normalization of hemoglobin to refill storage iron.
